Everybody is aware of the importance of a brilliant education. It may be the case that financial aspects may hinder your chances of receiving the best quality higher education. If this is the situation then you may be able to receive Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship.

The DAR is an award that is offered after a rigorous selection process. It is given to students that have fantastic academic achievement and a comprehensive involvement in their community or school. They should be a representative of the ideal concept of a studious individual who wants to contribute to society’s betterment.

There are various stipulations which govern whether the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship can be used for a public or private university course. It can be given to cover the cost of tuition as well as study materials and lodgings. It is up to the student to choose how the funds are best place to use.

To apply for the DAR a student must first complete an application form. Along with this they should submit a specific essay, a letter of recommendation, and often have an interview. It is a rigorous process so that only those people that fulfil the criteria and concept of the scholarship are chosen.

There are various categories of subjects for which the DAR can be given -

Political Science, Government, Economics, and History Scholarship: There are three scholarships that fall into this category. Each has specific criteria on how the funds may be given and to what value.

Specific Scholarships: There are a number of options available to students which have particular criteria above and beyond other DAR schemes. This list is more extensive and requires considerable research to find out whether you would be eligible for an award. For example some of the scholarships are only open to the sons and daughters or descendants of people that belong to the NSDAR. Other rules may include attending a specific college or university. There are also scholarships in this category that will require the student to submit a transcript of their annual studies. The amount of funds on offer can also vary greatly.
